Visiting SAAL Brewing Co

Our Brewery

Welcome to SAAL Brewing Co., proudly housed inside the historic Stanwood Volunteer Fire Station, a beloved landmark built in 1929. For over 77 years, this station served as the heart of civic life in Stanwood — a place where volunteers protected the community, hosted local events, and built the kind of neighbor-to-neighbor bonds that define the Pacific Northwest.

Today, the building still stands as one of Stanwood’s most recognizable structures. Original beams, preserved details, and the unmistakable firehouse character all remain, giving the space a warmth and authenticity that can’t be replicated. Every creak in the floorboards, every brick, and every weathered edge carries nearly a century of stories. SAAL Brewing opened its doors in 2019, carefully transforming the retired fire station into a community gathering place once again.

Meet Matt & Kristine

Owners behind SAAL

Matt and Kristine are the husband-and-wife team behind SAAL Brewing Co., blending Matt’s craft-driven approach to brewing with Kristine’s culinary talent and dedication to genuine hospitality. Matt develops SAAL’s lineup of balanced, flavorful beers, from crisp lagers to bold IPAs and seasonal specialties, guided by the belief that good beer should be thoughtful, approachable, and best enjoyed together.

As SAAL’s chef, Kristine brings the firehouse to life with a menu built around scratch-made comfort food, the kind of honest, handcrafted dishes that are increasingly rare today. She leads the kitchen and front-of-house teams with the same warmth she brings to her cooking, shaping a taproom experience where every guest feels welcomed and cared for.

Together, Matt and Kristine have transformed the historic volunteer fire station into a place where great beer, real food, local history, and genuine hospitality meet.
